the Kingsford Smith Airport (named after aviator Sir Charles Kingsford
Smith, the Australian legend who killed himself in 1935 when trying
to beat the record for the England-Australia crossing) is situated 13
km from the city centre. Bus, taxi, and soon a railroad linking the
airport directly to the Gold Coast, provide services to this magnificent
airport, made up of an international zone (for international flights)
and a domestic zone.
